Cara Emma Fenwick
Born Cara Emma Gibbings in Suffolk, England
in 1962 and influenced by her artistic family, Cara started
to study ceramics in Cambridge in 1978. She graduated from
Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts in 1984 and exhibited
in various galleries throughout England, including The Royal
Institute of British Architecture, The Royal Overseas League
& The Fulham Gallery. Influenced and inspired by Italy's
classic and modern styles she went to live and work in Milan
continuing to exhibit her unique and colourful ceramics
at galleries in Milan, Como and Venice.
Since her marriage in 1998 Cara has worked
under Cara Emma Fenwick. Working with flat forms and evocative
spatial concepts and playing with two-dimensional forms
of three-dimensional objects, She has developed a particularly
recognizable style. Her art also expresses her love of movement
& balance. Once satisfied with the shapes she would then
add her own stylised ethnic designs to some of them. In
1996 she discovered papier mache which opened up a whole
new dimension to her work, particularly as there was no
limit to size.
The Cara Collection was then created.
